July 4th Fire Engine

03020 "July 4th Fire Engine" 11x17
The first time I saw this awesome, large, puffing, giant machine it took my breath away. However, on the 4th of July with its drivers, passengers and American flag it was an indescribable event. I had such fun doing this watercolor. The purple was a challenge; the backdrop of green was impulsive brushwork to say the least. My favorite part however, next to the flag was the fellow in the striped flag shorts. He later came in just to see himself in this painting.
