Another visit to my favorite bandstand gave me sketches and color notes for this watercolor. Watercolor is the perfect medium for this painting because of its lighthearted, celebratory energy. The patriotic swags glow amidst the summer greens, the white architecture bounces off the white watercolor paper and the Texas star quilt ads a fitting note to the message of the day. I loved doing this painting, I look forward to many more from this wonderful piece of history.
