This place is an amazing find. A small high country lake, secluded and remote but accessible with a quiet demeanor and sultry summer atmosphere. But oh what a sight was that awesome ancient giant that spread his arms in such surrender. He was one of the "tall old ones" that stood through timeless years and thrashing storms. I could hardly get the paint onto the palette fast enough, the shadows diminished as I feverishly recorded them. I strained to see every twist, every shade of grey, every color of cast shadow that faced me across that quiet water so that I could portray the homage he deserved. Once home, I immediately started the large canvas to take the passion to larger format. I wish I could get to him in winter to see how he fairs in the snow.
