Looking down the arroyo my eye was drawn to the jumble of pear cactus living off the slope of the dry creek bed. The sun slanted in and illuminated the saturated yellows and transparent rose pinks and salmon colors of the emerging flowers. I found a safe place to get off the road and hiked back, got pictures, made sketches and took color notes. I never found that road again but the memory ignited and brought forth this painting.
